Adrenal Support Cocoa

Amrita Ma Devi

Many of us struggle with low energy levels, often reaching for quick fixes like excessive coffee. But there’s a better way to nourish our bodies and sustain our vitality, especially during the colder months. One of my favorite ways to recharge is with a warming Adrenal Support Cocoa, a comforting blend that not only delights the senses but also supports our adrenal health.

The Power of Warming Ingredients

In Ayurveda, we understand that true energy comes from balancing the body and mind rather than relying on stimulants. This is where our potent blend of herbs comes into play:

  • Liquorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra): In the ancient language of Sanskrit, the twig-like roots were known as Yashtimadhu, or “sweet stick,” and recognised as a Rasayana (rejuvenating tonic) in Ayurveda, liquorice root, helps regulate cortisol levels, supporting your adrenal glands. It adds a natural sweetness and depth to your cocoa, making it a delightful addition. Licorice root's adaptogenic properties can help the body respond to stress. Licorice root can also help with immune disorders, mood-related issues, digestive concerns, and PMS symptoms.
  • Ashwagandha: Often called the "king of herbs," ashwagandha is revered for its adaptogenic properties. It helps the body adapt to stress, promoting a sense of calm while boosting overall energy and vitality.
  • Cocoa: Not only does cocoa add a rich, decadent flavour, but it also contains flavonoids that enhance blood flow and support heart health. The mood-lifting qualities of chocolate can also help elevate your spirits.
  • Maca: This energising root is packed with nutrients and has been traditionally used to enhance stamina and reduce fatigue. Maca’s earthy flavour pairs beautifully with cocoa, creating a balanced drink that fuels your body. Extended use of maca is linked to improved hypothalamic and pituitary function, which can further promote adrenal balance. However, it’s important to consider who should avoid taking maca.

Who Should Avoid Maca?

Individuals with hormone-sensitive conditions should exercise caution. This includes those with breast, uterine, or ovarian cancer, as well as conditions like endometriosis or uterine fibroids. Maca extracts may mimic estrogen in the body, potentially exacerbating these conditions. If you have any health issues that could be negatively affected by increased estrogen levels, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional before incorporating maca into your routine.
