  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup black sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 crushed cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp black mustard seeds
  • 6 curry leaves
  • Pink salt to taste

1. Rinse the basmati rice and cook it in a pot of water with a pinch of salt. Drain excess water.


2. Heat ghee in a pan; add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cardamom, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.


3. Add the rice and water to the tempered spices. Mix well. Allow it to boil, turn down the flame, and add the lid until the water evaporates. Leave the lid on and turn off the flame for steaming for another 10 minutes. Then fluff up the rice with the fork before serving.


4. Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
