Amrita Ma Devi

Welcome to the world of Morning Rituals for Self Care, a brand dedicated to helping you start your day off on the right foot. As Rumi’s poem suggests, taking care of ourselves in the morning is crucial for our overall well-being. At Morning Rituals for Self Care, we understand the importance of establishing a healthy morning routine that works for you. In this blog post, we’ll be sharing some effective practices to help you kickstart your day and get your glow on. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!

How can I ensure that I own the future by preparing for it today?

Do you wake up every morning feeling groggy and unprepared for the day ahead? Do you rely on an alarm clock to jolt you out of bed, rather than waking up naturally? If so, it might be time to reevaluate your sleep habits and adopt a new approach to getting up in the morning.Believe it or not, you don’t actually need an alarm clock to wake up feeling energised and ready to take on the day. In fact, relying on an alarm clock can actually disrupt your natural sleep cycle and leave you feeling more tired than you would if you woke up on your own.

So how can you start waking up naturally and feeling refreshed every morning? It all starts with getting enough rest. If you go to bed by 10 pm every night, your body will have plenty of time to rest and recharge, so you can wake up feeling ready to go.

But getting enough sleep is only half the battle. You also need to set yourself up for success in the morning by creating a peaceful and intentional morning routine. One way to do this is by taking a few minutes to centre yourself before getting out of bed.

As you lay in bed, allow your thoughts to focus on gratitude for the day ahead. Think about all the things you have to be thankful for, and allow yourself to feel a sense of contentment and peace. You can also set an intention for the day, whether it’s to be more present in the moment, to practice kindness and compassion, or to focus on your goals and aspirations.

By taking these few moments to centre yourself before getting out of bed, you’ll start your day on the right foot and feel more prepared to take on whatever challenges come your way.

So if you’re tired of relying on an alarm clock to wake up in the morning, try adopting these simple habits and see how they can transform your mornings. With a little intention and a commitment to getting enough rest, you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day, without the need for an alarm clock.

Eliminate Ama and Boost Your Health with These Simple Hygiene Tips

In the bathroom, reach for your metal tongue tingler ~ your organic oral health kit can be purchased here. Used after brushing the teeth, it removes any bacterias from the mouth before they reach your digestive system. Helping with detoxification and immunity, tongue scraping is a must for oral hygiene rituals. The tongue has been used by yogis to observe the nervous system and gut health. According to Ayurveda when you sleep your body takes all of the toxins and bacteria that had entered your digestive system that day and deposits them on your tongue. Before you drink any water, do your scrapping 10 times from back to front to pull off any ama – a toxic mucus, often white or yellow gunk from your tongue. Notice if the tongue has any cracks, pale spots or excessively pink spots. This will indicate how you can take care of yourself throughout the day. The excessive white mucus build-up will suggest you overtaxed the digestive system and need to eat a lighter, warming foods like a simple lentil dal mono-diet that day.

Start off your digestion with ginger tea-sipping throughout the day to stimulate agni – the digestive fire.

Giving yourself the extra time in the morning to have a dose of gentle self-touch with Sneha which means both love and oil, abhyanga is a treat. I talked about this in my blog post ‘Anxiety free travel tips’ so you can read more there. I like to alternate between the abhyanga and nasya therapy. Nasya gives a mental shift and clarity after snorting therapeutic oil into the nostrils. If there is any congestion it is advised to clear out the nostrils with saline water in a neti pot. Both these therapeutic applications help to clear any congestion, headaches and allergies as well as nourishes the brain, creates a barrier for pathogens and opens up the senses. This is not a long practice and you can easily take 5 minutes to add this to your morning ritual. Using a natural oil or specific sinus lube, place a half dropper in the nostril and snort it up, spitting out any excess which comes into the mouth and rinsing with salt water & a gaggle three times.

Breathe in the morning

With a few rounds of pranayama, yogic breathing exercises to connect with greater stillness before meditation helps to still the mind. Practise the victorious breath or Ujjye breathing know as the ‘babies sleeping breath’ because it sounds like a gentle snore. The emphasis of the breath is placed at the back of the throat as the sound of the inhaling and exhaling breath is heard internally, repeat this for 15 rounds.

“Yoga is the Journey of the Self, Through the Self, To the Self.” ~ Bhagavad Gita

Morning meditation will open the doorways of higher perception, in which we gain access to grace, guidance and intuition. Nothing says get up and glow than exploring the portals into greater consciousness. The mornings are tranquil, nature is peaceful whilst the day is still, calm and without activity. Ayurveda recommends that the Vata time of day is the most welcoming time to practise meditation, which is from 2 am up till 6 am. Having a good sitting, absorbing the qualities of space and air (that of Vata) is more conducive when those qualities are present in the environment. Here is a simple guided meditation by Igor Kufayev my spiritual mentor and my beloved partner.

Movement

At Ayurveda anytime the world of yoga and conscious walking are great ways to start your day! These two practices are an excellent way to get your body moving and help you feel lighter throughout the day. Particularly during Kapha time between 6-10 am, these practices can assist with the body’s suppleness and ability to free up space.Yoga is an excellent way to begin your day, especially if you’re looking to improve your flexibility and strength. As you move through your morning routine, it’s important to be fully present and mindful of your breath. This will help you connect with your body and allow you to become more aware of the sensations within. By nourishing the inner self with care first, we can start to gently move and sense the outer world, moving into action with greater ease and clarity.

Conscious walking is another great way to get the body moving and start your day off on the right foot. This practice involves walking with awareness, paying attention to the sensations in your feet, the rhythm of your breath, and the sights and sounds around you. With each step, you can connect more deeply with your body and the world around you, helping you to feel more grounded and centered.

Both yoga and conscious walking are practices that require dedication and discipline. It’s important to give yourself to your asana practice, committing to a consistent routine that will allow you to experience the benefits of these practices over time. As you move through your morning routine, remember to be gentle with yourself and listen to your body. If you feel any discomfort or pain, modify your practice as needed to avoid injury.

Unlocking the Secret to a Stronger Mind, Body, and Spirit
