Sweet Potato Toast for an Ayurvedic Breakfast

This recipe is ideal for those following a gluten-free diet, which eliminates gluten to manage inflammation or symptoms linked to autoimmune conditions.

We've ditched the traditional bread base (which can sometimes cause stomach discomfort for those with sensitivities) and opted for nutrient-rich sweet potatoes. Not only are they naturally gluten-free, but they also offer a foundation that perfectly balances Vata Dosha in Ayurveda.

Sweet Potato Toast

  • 1/2 Sweet potato sliced thin 1/4 inch thick
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1 pinch salt

Topping 1

  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp alfalfa sprouts

Topping 2

  • 1 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa nibs
  • 2 Medjool dates

1. Preheat the grill 220c or 428 f. Line a baking sheet for the grill.

2. Place the sweet potato on the sheet of baking paper and brush with ghee and a pinch of salt.

3. Bake for 5 minutes, then turn the toast over. Repeat this last step and brush with ghee before grilling for another 5 minutes.

4. Once tender and ready, place them on a plate to arrange the toppings.
