Discover the Difference Between Eating Habits of Yogi, Bhogi, and Rogi: Which One Do You Eat Like?

Amrita Ma Devi

Are you curious about the difference between a Yogi, Bhogi, and Rogi? These terms are used to describe three different types of individuals, each with a unique approach to life. By understanding these differences, you can gain insight into your own path and the choices you make.

Let’s start with the Yogi. This individual is disciplined in following a path of higher purpose and wisdom. They have studied the teachings of history and are committed to pursuing a time-tested system of thought. Personal preferences or desires do not sway them, as their perception is focused solely on their spiritual journey. This may make them appear strict or rigid to others, as they do not waver from their chosen path.

On the other hand, the Bhogi is someone who indulges in the material world. They have little to no discipline and seek pleasure above all else. Their minds are often clouded by rajas and tamas, two of the three gunas or energies described in Hinduism. They constantly seek enjoyment, but this pleasure-seeking behaviour often leads to a lack of discernment, as their base desires easily sway them.

Finally, there is the Rogi, or the one who is suffering. This individual may be physically or mentally ill, and their pain and suffering consume much of their perception. They may feel that they have little control over their life, as their focus is often on managing their condition and finding relief from their symptoms.

It’s important to note that these terms are not meant to be judgmental but rather descriptive. Each individual has their path to follow, and it’s up to them to decide which approach is best for them. However, by understanding these differences, we can gain a greater understanding of ourselves and those around us.

In conclusion, the difference between Yogi, Bhogi, and Rogi lies in their approach to life. From disciplined spiritual seekers to pleasure-seekers and those who are suffering, each individual has their own journey to follow. By recognising these differences, we can gain insight into ourselves and the world around us.
